Allow Muslim Students To Fast During Ramadan – GES Orders Wesley Girls And Other Schools.
The Ghana Education Service has directed the authorities of the Wesley Girls Senior High and other schools nationwide to permit students to take part in the Ramadan fast.
The Education Directors have clearly stated that any Muslim student who wish to partake in this Ramadan fasting should be allowed since it is a religious reason to do.
This directive was issued by the Ghana Education Service on Saturday, May 1, 2021 in a press statement which was signed by Madam Cassandra Twum Ampofo, the Head of Public Relations Unit for the Ghana Education Service.
This directive was brought by the Ghana Education Service following a student who was prevented to fast in the Wesley Girls Senior High School .

This act of denying the student to take part in the Ramadan fasting has brought a lot of reactions from a lot of people especially the muslims.
Many social media users and human rights advocates have lambasted the school for preventing muslim students from fasting.
Although, the Ghana Education Service has explained that they took that decision due to health reasons, since fasting can develop various health complications through fasting.
Due to that the school management took a decision that, irrespective of ones religion, none of the students should be allowed to fast.
When the news reached the Minister of Education, a meeting was held and at the end of the meeting Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and his council members of the Ghana Education Service directed schools to allow students to fast.
