Assembly Man’s House Pulled Down For Being Sited On Waterway at Tema West.
A demolition exercise carried out in Tema West to pave way for water to flow feely whenever it rains has caused a lot of the inhabitants to loose many of their properties
Some structures including the building of the Assembly Man of the area, has been pulled down by the Tema West Municipal Assembly for being sited on waterway at Lashibi in Accra.
Hon. Henry Quartey, who spoke to the Media during the demolition process explained that, he would neither foster nor protect any wrong doing in his quest to protect the region.
He stated that, in respect to the “LETS MAKE ACCRA WORK” project, he is working on bringing back the discipline that has lost it ground in the region.
Hon. Henry Quartey continued that, he noticed that a washing bay has been built on a waterway, so he asked the NADMO officer in the region to work together with the Assembly to make sure that all buildings built on waterways are demolished.
The Honourable Minister furtherly explained that, after the demolishing of the washing bay, he had an information that, there is a building behind the washing bay which belongs to the Assembly Man.
He made it clear that, he cannot practice selective justice, so he orded the NADMO officer and the Assembly to demolish that building too.
The Assembly Man who’s house has been demolished because it was found on waterway, has expressed remorse for wrongfully erecting a building on waterways.
“I know what I did was wrong and I accept to let it go. Though I have not received any compensation, I sincerely apologize for what I have done” – He said.
