Government gifts every Ghanaian teacher one laptop.
In fulfilment to the promises that Nana Akuffo Addo made in their manifesto, that they will help every Ghanaian teacher to gain at least a primary skill in ICT, His Excellency Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has launched and handed over 350, 000 laptops to teachers.
This is to fulfill the “One teacher, one laptop initiative that they promised. The One teacher, One laptop is an initiative which is set to prepare the next generation for the Fourth Industrial revolution.
On Friday, September 3, 2021 at the St Mary’s Senior High School in Accra, Dr Bawumia the first of these laptops in a simple but fascinating ceremony.
On this glorious day, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia was assisted by Hon. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister for Education, Professor Kwasi Opoku Amankwah – Director General of the Ghana Education Service and the leaders of various Teachers Unions.
According to the initiative, the Government of Ghana is to provide every trained teacher from Kindergarten to Senior High School a brand new laptop with it’s accessories and other educational materials.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia started that, “Effective teaching and learning is critical to developing the human capacity for work, innovation and creativity. It is obviously necessary for capacity building.
He continued that, teachers are the indispensable pillars to the necessary capacity building.
He concluded that, the vision of the Ghana Education Service is to create a conducive environment to facilitate effective teaching and learning.
