Legendary Ghanaian highlife musician, Akosua Agyapong has accepted that her colleague, father and brother in the Ghana music industry has passed on.
In an interview with Adom FM at the family house of the late Nana Ampadu, Akosua Agyapong revealed that, the first hospital which they rushed him to at Achimota could not attend to him.
Upon their arrival at the hospital at Achimota in the morning on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 they were told the doctor was sleeping. So he had to the University of Ghana Medical Center where he could not combat the sickness despite the great effort of the doctors.
“I believe he died due to the late medical attention. He could not receive treatment on time because e did not get there early, when we got to the hospital at Achimota, we had to leave there quickly for the Ghana medical School in Legon because the doctors were asleep. When we got to Legon, the doctors tried their best but they could not save the situation” – Akosua Agyapong said.
Akosua Agyapong started that, losing Nana Ampadu is such a big blow to her. She confessed that Nana Ampadu is among some of the few musicians who succeeded in convincing her mother to allow her do music.
I will remember him because of his performance. He is a good listener. I spoke to him and kept asking him for advice. Now that he is gone, who is there to advice me?
Musicians should write good songs. His “Obra” and “Agartha” songs are timeless, and he likes to write songs that are live. I remember that I sang a song with him on Otumfuo’s birthday, it was very interesting.
He was a kind and generous man who never discriminate.
May his soul rest in peace 55
